Sunday, Feb 12, 2012     Kids Church
The kids were taught what it meant to specifically be a follower.  (Luke 12)
Humble -   The kids acted out the story of a man taking the place of honor and having to be asked to move.  We talked about King of the Mountain and lifting each other up instead of your own self.
No excuses- The kids acted out the scene of the people making excuses in not going to the banquet. We talked about the different excuses concerning not doing what God wants.
Think- The verse was read concerning a King counting the cost before going to war. We talked about thinking before acting.
Salty - A follower will preserve others around us for the Kingdom of God

What is righteousness?
Righteousness means we live like God wants us to.  When we hunger and thirst for righteousness, we’ll seek to please God all the time in every way we know how.
How can I know what righteousness looks like?
The Bible is the best place to find out how to please God.  Righteousness isn’t just about learning what the Bible says.  It’s about living it.  As we read the Bible and pray, God will help us change to be more like Him.  We can also learn about righteousness from the people who teach us how to live for God, like our parents, teachers, pastor, and others who are growing closer to God.

Blessed are those that mourn, for they will be comforted. Matthew 5:4

Parents you can teach your kids:

What is sin?
Sin is disobeying God.

Why should I admit my sin?
God will forgive and comfort us when we admit our sins and do our best not to do them again.  He has given us the Holy  Spirit to help us become more like Jesus in our       attitudes and actions.  When we ask God to forgive our sins, we should be so sorry that our attitudes and behaviors toward others should change.  Others should be able to tell that when we say, “I’m sorry,” we really mean it and we prove it by not  repeating the wrong things we’ve done.

Why is living for God important?
When we ask Jesus into our heart and life, He wants us to follow Him. Then others will know that we are Christians, and we’ll be able to share our faith with them. But it’s not always easy to know how to follow Jesus. Thankfully, we have the Bible to guide us.
What are the Beatitudes? Matthew
I will live for God (5:3)
I will admit my sin and not do it again. (5:4)
I will be strong and easy to live with (5:5)
I will always want more of God (5:6)
I will see the need and make a difference.(5:7)
I will keep my heart clean. (5:8)
I will make peace wherever I go. (5:9)
I will do what’s right even when it’s hard. (5:10)
